Life: Famous last words?

Probably not so much, but my final thoughts to sum up my Westminster experience are in The May Issue of the student newspaper.

You can read the article here.

And my favorite article from the issue is here.

And my best interview for this issue is here, and another great interview is here.

Yes, I'm a self-promoting whore. Just deal with it.

Life: I'm taking a personal day

I finally have time to breathe!

This means I'm enjoying far too many cookies and too much coffee. Both make me happy.

It's been quite the semester this time around and I'm more than ready for break time. I can't wait to spend all day curled up on the couch with a good book and nothing to do, but read and pork out on holiday treats.

I learned a lot this semester as the president of film club and editor for the student newspaper. My friend Rikki wrote a fabulous post on what she learned as the Editor-in-Chief for the Daily Evergreen out at Washington State University. And I have to say I agree, sistah. This has been a semester for difficult life experiences that I still wouldn't trade if given a chance. (I'm lookin' at you, Walt.)

All in all, I spent way more time with the paper than I ever intended and this meant the film production started to slide. I'm not entirely sure how to prevent this from happening again next semester so any suggestions would be welcome.

Also school work pretty much became an in-my-spare-time occupation. So yeah, I may not have done very well in school. The low point here was realizing how much I don't care about school anymore. I just want my degree and I want to be done.

Finally in my wee bits of personal life time, where I wasn't trying to calm the craziness, keep the craziness going, or stop the craziness that is a student paper, I went and found a boy to keep me busy.

And it is good. So even though I survived the semester from hell, I'm actually pretty happy with my life. Because all I needed to discover how truly amazing the people in my life are, was a lot of craziness of drive me insane. So giant thank yous to all my friends and family. You people are made of pure awesome!

Life: I was a firestorm

of blogging before August. (Yep, that picture was me in the blogosphere-you never knew I was so hot. Heehee!) Then I went home or more precisely I was away from the internet for a few days and I discovered *gasp* I could live without updating my blog or twitter everyday. Amazingly, it's lasted this long.

In the land of blogs I'm one of the many who fails to update regularly. That being said with the inevitable advent of school I will be much busier and hence less likely to blog regularly. But I will try to update you about my food adventures.

In slightly related news, I start a new job tomorrow. (Yay! Finally!) Which I guess means the biggest changes will be in my bank account and my wardrobe. I'm seriously considering wearing heels again. And maybe even pants.

I've also started working at the school paper, The Forum. In the way of college student newspapers, I'm already managing to piss off student government. I suppose I should be more upset, but every time I receive an email I think they desperately need a public relations lesson. The flaw of having an editor trained in PR, I guess.

In film news, the premiere of my film "On the Other Side" is inching closer. Everyone's invited to come Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. at the Jewett Center for Performing Arts on Westminster College's campus. It's been a crazy bit of planning and again working out how to pay for everything when I have no money.

Actually, that's pretty much the story of my life.

Food news?

Fifteen bizarre restaurants. I like to eat, but not from corpses or toilets please. I can handle the hobbits, though.

And if that's not enought, here's some more weird. I want to be a ninja princess!

The Searchers

My short story "The Searchers" is published online. I stole the title from that awesome John Wayne western because the Duke is just that bad ass.

I wrote this story one morning after a pretty intense dream. This is just the first chapter of the two and a half I've written. I didn't think it would publish anywhere, but AuthSpot picked it up so please read the story and let me know what you think.

For anyone who knows me, it shouldn't be too hard to see where this story is coming from. And I'll admit I'm a little worried this story may offend some of you, but please understand that this story is fictional and is not a direct reflection of anyone I know. Thanks for listening. I hope you enjoy the read.

Food News: Brookside is now Yellowfin

A quick update in the Salty City food world.

Brookside Broiler and Grill near Hidden Hollow in the Sugar House Commons has closed. The beef kabobs will surely be missed.

Yellowfin will open in the same location soon. The sign still says broiler and grill, but I believe it's a sushi place. When I spoke with the owners today, they said they are hoping to open next week. The restaurant is waiting on a liquor license that has been delayed for two weeks.

Yay! Utah, always making it easier on your local business.
